The Death of the Death Tax
The London Review of Books has an interesting article about the campaign to repeal the estate/death tax. While I disagree with the politics and economics of the author at many points ("Policies that allow individuals to hold onto their money and do with it what they like may be economically efficient, but they are not particularly fair: many people will end up with less than they need and perhaps than they deserve"???) his analysis of the tactical side of the debate is interesting. And it has one memorable quote, drawn from the book it reviews: "In politics, when you’re explaining, you’re losing."
