Why, Oh why, are the refs so blind?

I can clearly identify the two worst calls I've seen in ACC ball thus far this season, and both benefited Wake Forest:

1. When the Heels played there, Vytas Danelius was called for a moving screen on Felton. He should have been thrown out of the game (T with possession for Carolina): at the last minute, he clearly raised his knee and got Felton in the high thigh. Carolina made mistakes in that game, but this call was key. Wake tried to take out Felton, and got away with it.

2. With only a few seconds on the clock and a 2 point lead, Tech's Jarrod Jack was pushing the ball up the floor when he was CLEARLY TRIPPED, but of course the blind mice missed it. Wake picked up the steal, and a Tech player was called for the intentional foul. That pushed this thing into overtime.

Is Wake becoming the new Duke?

Hey, the folks at Wake Forest bought those refs fair and square so stop yer whining! Seriously, I think that Wake has taken a page or two from Duke's playbook. The truth is, Duke has always been overrated, and the fact is that they only know how to play one game. If the team that's opposing them controls the tempo, and manages to keep it slow, Duke is in big trouble.

While I think that Wake has definitely taken a page or two from Duke's playbook, I also think that bad officiating has been a chronic problem with college hoops. The refs make incredibly bad calls, and then think that the only way to make up for them is to make MORE bad calls. I just don't understand...
